The practice is aware of the increase in the number of requests for appointments and we have been monitoring this since our move to the new Health Centre.

To help ensure that an adequate number of appointments are available, and maintain a balance between retaining pre-bookable advance appointments and same day emergency appointments, with immediate effect the Doctors have increased the length of their surgeries. This will result in a minimum of 40 extra appointments each week.

How can Patients Help?

In March 2012 we had 116 appointments which patients did not attend . This simply adds to the problem and means that 116 other patients had to wait longer than was necessary. Whilst some patients may have forgotten their appointment it may surprise you to know that we actually have some patients who make an emergency appointment for the same day and do not attend.

If you have an appointment which you cannot attend or no longer need please make sure that you contact the surgery to cancel it. This can be done by phone and also via our website (see link at the bottom of the home page).

Please think of the other patients who could use your appointment and cancel it – one day it may be you or a member of your family who has to wait unnecessarily.

GP Cover for Dr Murray's maternity leave

The practice is pleased to announce the appointment of two locum GPs - Dr Tooher and Dr Anthony - who will be working at the practice until next February to cover Dr Murray's maternity leave.

New Patient Registrations.

We have been having some enquiries about whether or not we are registering New Patients, in the New Health Centre. We can confirm that we are continuing to register new patients and welcome any new registrations immediately. Our List is well and truly open!!

Changes to the Presciption Telephone Line

We have now changed the Prescription Telephone Line to a 24 hour answering service since we moved into the New Health Centre. This allows Patients to leave a message with regard to repeat prescription ordering, at a time that suits them and not just during the previousTelephone service of between 10.00 and 1.00.

This is a much improved service and helps to alleviate the frustration some Patients felt when they couldn't get through on the telephone for repeat prescription ordering.
