Inaugural Meeting 18th January

We held our inaugural meeting on Wednesday 18th January and although not as well attended as we hoped, we did get off to a positive start when the message on the prescription line was raised as an issue in that it is far too complicated when leaving a message for your repeat prescriptions. We are now working on a much simpler message to make it easier and more user friendly. This will be up and running very shortly.

Our Patient Participation Group (PPG)

It has always been our intention to form a Patient Particpation Group and now that we have settled into the new Heatlh Centre, we nowl have the proper facilities in which to hold such a focus group.

With this in mind we are now looking for a cross section of our Patient population who feel that they would like to be involved.

The overall aim of the group is to develop a positive and constructive relationship between Patients, the Practice and the Community that it serves, ensuring that the Practice remains accountable and responsive to all its Patient needs.

The key aims are:

1.   To create and improve two-way communication between the Practice and the Patient population.

2.   To bring a sense of Partnership between the Practice and the Patient population.

3.   To provide a vehicle by which the Patient population can have an influence over the way in which the facilities and services, provided by the Practice, are planned and used.

4.   To provide constructive feedback of Patient population needs, concerns and interests.

5.   To support the Practice in Health promotion and preventative medicine.

6.   To collect Patient opinions and experiences in order to help the Practice evaluate and, where appropriate improve, its services.

Membership of our PPG

All registered Patients are welcome to join the PPG although, in the interests of effective decision making, membership of the core will be limited to 12.

Specialist "sub-groups" may be formed to deal with specific topical areas in order to utilise individual skills and experience.

It is anticipated that the group will meet approximately monthly, but this may be changed in accordance with the needs of the group as time progresses.
