Nurses

The nurses run asthma, diabetic, healthy heart and COPD clinics. They also offer cervical cytology, well woman and well man checks, ear syringing, holiday vaccinations and travel advice; especially blood pressure checks, dietary advice, advice on stopping smoking, health issues such as exercise and alcohol.

The Practice Business Manager looks after the day-to-day General Business Management functions of the Practice, and will be pleased to discuss any non-medical problems and also receive any suggestions for improving the services we offer.

Norma is the Administration Services Manager who is responsible for the Management of the very busy Administration Team who carry out the many and varied administrative tasks that keep the Practice functioning.

Administration

The partners employ a team of staff undertaking a variety of Secretarial and administrative roles.
All staff are fully trained and do a very difficult job well. Please remember that if you are kept waiting or asked questions, they are carrying out practice policy, which is aimed at helping the practice run smoothly.

They have to judge the urgency of requests so please try to give the information they require. They are bound by the same rules of confidentiality as nurses and doctors.

Reception

The Partners employ a Team of Receptionists who cover the Reception responsibilities. They have a very important role in Patient Satisfaction and are constantly trying to provide an efficient and professional service whilst learning to adapt to the new building and its many foibles including new equipment and telephone systems. We believe that our Staff are very professional and offer an excellent service under what can be at times a very high pressure environment.

Community Nurses

The community nurses attached to the surgery provide a broad range of nursing expertise within the home environment, in the surgery treatment room and in private and local authority accommodation. All qualified staff have experience in both hospital and community care. All nurses carry identification cards that you should request to see.

Patients visit the community nurse at the surgery treatment room for the following types of care: dressings of wounds and ulcers, removal of stitches, injections, ear syringing and venepuncture. Advice is given on health promotion, disease prevention and the care of elderly relatives.

When visited in your home or rest home an individualised plan of care is agreed with you and your carers. Contact is maintained directly with them by leaving a message on their answer machine, telephone number 651749. After 6.00pm please call 305895.

The community nurse has contact with and makes referrals to other agencies and these include: occupational therapy, health visitor, hospice (home care team, Marie Curie nurses), community psychiatric nurses, day hospital, stoma nurse, diabetic liaison nurses etc.

Attached Staff

District nurses, health visitors, clinical psychologist, community psychiatric nurse, midwife, nursery nurse and dietician are all part of the primary care team although not employed directly by the practice.

GP Cover for Dr Murray's maternity leave

The practice is pleased to announce the appointment of two locum GPs - Dr Tooher and Dr Anthony - who will be working at the practice until next February to cover Dr Murray's maternity leave.

New Patient Registrations.

We have been having some enquiries about whether or not we are registering New Patients, in the New Health Centre. We can confirm that we are continuing to register new patients and welcome any new registrations immediately. Our List is well and truly open!!

Changes to the Presciption Telephone Line

We have now changed the Prescription Telephone Line to a 24 hour answering service since we moved into the New Health Centre. This allows Patients to leave a message with regard to repeat prescription ordering, at a time that suits them and not just during the previousTelephone service of between 10.00 and 1.00.

This is a much improved service and helps to alleviate the frustration some Patients felt when they couldn't get through on the telephone for repeat prescription ordering.
